Sir Ben Ainslie’s Anthea Racing team made a defence filing recently against the earlier High Court filing made by Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos.
Ratcliffe requires Ainslie’s Athena Racing team (GB1) to hand over the AC75 boat Britannia they built for the 37th America’s Cup, and which forms the basis of their challenge for the 38th America’s Cup.
Some of the revelations in the Anthea Racing submission have surprised the yachting world, dramaically revealing another side to the presumed genteel world of yachting . . . even in the long-time acrimonious world of America’s Cup sailing.
In this week’s episode of The Foil Podcast, Andy Rice, Freddie Carr and Neil Cole provided an interesting view of the latest developments in the increasingly bitter dispute over ownership of the British AC75 Britannia.
This is especially interesting for the insider-view of Freddie Carr, a former member of the British America’s Cup team, and his take on the effect that the alleged personal threats and other disruptive shenanigans, had on Ben Ainslie and the team’s performance in the 37th America’s Cup final.
