Jan-Philipp Hofmann and Felix Brockerhoff of Germany will go into the final day (Saturday) of the 2026 505 World Championship with a 15 point lead after eight races completed.
Hofmann and Brockerhoff continued to dominate the championship, adding a 2 and 1 Friday, and now discarding two fourth place finishes to post a total of 9 pts for an unassailable lead.
Second placed Howard Hamlin and Andy Zinn of the USA were unable to make any impression on the leading pair, despite a third place in the first race of the day, followed by an 11th which became their second discard. They count 24 pts.
Britain’s Paul Brotherton and James Fawcett made places with a race win and a second. They climbed from ninth to third with 29 pts, and the opportunity to overtake Hamlin and Zinn in the final two races.
Peter Nicholas and Luke Payne of Australia slipped to fourth after a 13 and 3, with 32 pts. Britain’s Roger Gilbert and Ian Mitchell move into fifth, tied on 45 pts with Mike Holt and Carl Smit of USA.
