The 2026 Junior World Championships wrapped up in Medemblik with Italy winning the 49er and Nacra 17 fleets, while Poland took the 49erFX crown with a race to spare.
The 49er gold fleet delivered the tightest title fight of the week, Lorenzo Pezzilli and Tobia Torroni taking the win and the 2026 49er Junior World Championship title by three points. Germany’s Kjell Haschen and Iven Anton Fromm were second, Simon Heindl and Conrad Jacobs third.
Best place GBR, were Leo Wilkinson and Tristan Ahlheid in 10th.
The 49erFX title was wrapped up well before racing finished, Poland’s Ewa Lewandowska and Anna Zwara winning the title without the need for the final race.
Poland’s other boat, training partner and previous leader Klara Sobczak and Magdalena Skórnóg, had a mixed final day but did enough to hold onto second overall. Japan’s Manase Ichihashi and Rinko Goto secured the bronze medal.
Britain’s Karrie Clark and Felicity Brellisford narrowly missed out on the podium in fourth after a really strong week.
In the Nacra 17, Italy’s Federico Figlia di Granara and Caterina Sedmak were crowned Nacra 17 world champion.
Their training partners, Arto Hirsch and Sofia Borgia, backed them up with a great week of their own to finish second, well clear of Switzerland’s Andrea Aschieri and Tine Rossel in third.
Switzerland’s Henri Rothacher and Noah Strempfer topped the FX Open fleet. The United States’ Samantha Gardner and Noah Nyenhuis held on for second, with another Swiss crew Jacob Ryu Bruendler and Thierry Stucki rounding out the podium in third.
