The second tranche of the the final event of the 2026 Sailing Grand Slam series has three Olympic classes – the ILCA 6 and 7 and the 470 – competing at San Pedro, host venue for the 2028 Olympic Games.
This event follows the four Olympic Board classes, who raced at Long Beach last week, and precedes the third event for the 49er, FX and Nacra17, which will be at San Pedro from 1 to 8 August.
The opening day for the 470 class completed three races. Leaders are Matisse Pacud and Lucie De Gennes of France (4,2,1). Second Simon Diesch and Anna Markfort of Germany (5,2,1), and third Britain’s Martin Wrigley and Bettine Harris (1,4,3).
In the ILCA 6 women, Maria Erdi of Hungary won the opening race, second Mara Stransky of Australia and third Roos Wind of the Netherlands. Britain’s Daisy Collingbridge was 18th, and Matilda Nicholls 20th.
In the ILCA 7 men, George Gautrey of New Zealand won the first race, ahead of Australia’s Matt Wearn and Willem Wiersema of the Netherlands. Britain’s Elliot Hanson was 6th, Michael Beckett 7th and Finley Dickinson 17th.
