Volvo Ocean Race - Settle in for the long haul

Dongfeng Race Team (Charles Caudrelier) lead the charge on Day 2 of 5,700-mile Leg 8 to Newport.Martin Stromberg on the helm with the team standing by for a peel -

With the breeze in the NE, the fleet will continue on starboard, whilst looking for an opportunity to tack back with the overall strategy to get further east.

A warm current flows down the coast of Brazil at up to 2kts. Right now a left shift has resulted in the fleet tacking over to port passing south of the stronger current.

The Southern Ocean leg tested the fleet like never before.

The competition and adventure reaching new heights in an epic crossing that will long be remembered.

Summarised by Charles Caudrelier, ‘No race is as great as the Volvo Ocean Race’
