Firefighters were able to contain a blaze at the Pier 29 building in San Francisco, which is part of a construction site for the 2013 America’s Cup. The unoccupied, nearly century-old, wood-and-concrete structure was to be used as a spectator area during the race,Pier 29 is not currently under the control of, or under development by, the America’s Cup. Pier 29 is still under the control of the city and Port of San Francisco and their contractor Turner Construction Company.
Based on information available at this time, the AC organisation do not anticipate that this will have any impact on their plans for the site and look forward to moving ahead with the future construction of the America's Cup Village at Pier 27/29.
