Hurricane 5.9 Class Championships at Weymouth

The Hurricane 5.9 Class held their 2013 Championships at Weymouth in conditions that ranged from glorious sunny conditions and a 10 knot breeze, to a force 5 on day 2 and racing on the harbour course with multiple capsizes and 33 knot gusts as the fleet went into rescue mode to get home. Unfortunately despite the race officer’s best efforts there were no more races on days 3 & 4 with big wind sweeping the bay. Overall John Ready and ‘super crew’ Nahid Gaebler (Tornado European & World Champion) from the Kieler Yacht Club, Germany took the championship after two wins on the first day.
