Tornado European title for Roland and Nahid Gaebler

Roland and Nahid Gaebler are the new Tornado European Champions, knocking the Greek Red Bull sailors off the podium they have held since 2008. Roland's last European Championships victory came in the 1990's. The final day of racing on Lake Constance was cancelled after a long wait for some wind. The next major Championships for the Tornado Class is the World Championships being held in Ibiza in late September, the planning is already well underway.

Gaebler lead Tornado Europeans

After six races completed at the Tornado Europeans on Lake Constance, Roland and Nahid Gabler of Germany lead from Iordanis Paschalidis and Konstantinos Trigonis of Greece.

Minoprio, dominates the GC32 Austria Cup

Despite his lack of catamaran experience, former Match Racing World Champion Adam Minoprio proved his dominance on day two of the GC32 Austria Cup Thursday, winning all his races to take the overall lead in this inaugural event of The Great Cup.

The Great Cup stutters into action FULL STORY HERE

The first ever day of racing for The Great Cup, and the GC32 catamarans competing in it, was hit by gear failure to SPAX Solutions within seconds of the start of the first race. This prevented the two Dutch teams due to compete on board her from sailing. This left the Swiss teams of Flavio Marazzi and Adam Minoprio and the Austrian AEZ teams of Andreas Hagara and Max Trippolt’s youth squad to spend the rest of the day match racing.

Leigh McMillan overhauls Alinghi to top the leaderboard FULL STORY HERE

On the penultimate day in Qingdao, Leigh McMillan definitely had his mojo back, winning two of the four races to overhaul Alinghi’s 14 race reign at the top of the leaderboard after a thick fog temporarily stalled proceedings yesterday morning. The battle on the rest of the leaderboard was even more tense and after another testing light wind day, only 11 points separate positions three to eight at close of play as the battle lines are drawn for today’s final showdown.

Alinghi dominate Extreme Sailing Series in Qingdao FULL STORY HERE

The Swiss teams Alinghi and Realteam dominated in testing light winds on the opening day of the Extreme Sailing Seriesin Qingdao, edging ahead on the leaderboard at the end of day one as the teams prepare to move into stadium mode over the next three days. Morgan Larson has taken the tiller from regular helm Ernesto Bertarelli on Alinghi for this Act and after winning three of today’s five races and as the fastest boat on the water (average speed of 8.03 knots) according to the SAP analytics, the Swiss team is deservedly the top of the leaderboard after day one.

Land Rover joins Extreme 40 Sailing Series FULL STORY HERE

Land Rover has announced a three year sponsorship as a Series Main Partner to the Extreme Sailing Series. The arrival of Land Rover brings further confirmation that the original stadium sailing circuit, has global and unique appeal for premium brands and quality host venues. As Series Main Partner (one of a maximum of two such Partners, with the other Series Main Partner space still under negotiation), this top-tier level sponsorship will enable Land Rover to promote their range of vehicles in key markets the Series visits including the UK, China, France and Brazil.

Extreme Sailing Series heads to China's Olympic Sailing City

China’s Olympic Sailing City Qingdao is preparing to welcome the eight international Extreme 40 teams for Act 3 of their international non-stop tour of the globe. Only two weeks ago the Swiss team Alinghi claimed victory in Singapore before the fleet and all the Series paraphernalia were packed into containers and shipped by Logistics Partner GAC Pindar non-stop to Qingdao.

Sir Ben to helm J.P. Morgan BAR AC45 in Round the Island Race FULL STORY HERE

Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race around the Isle of Wight will mark the first occasion Ben Ainslie will compete on home waters since winning his historic fourth Olympic gold in Weymouth last year.
