2013 Audi Melges 20 Sailing Series FULL STORY HERE

Achille Onorato, tactician Lorenzo Bressani and crew Stefano Ciampalini aboard Mascalzone Latino Jr. won the Porto Ercole edition of the 2013 Audi Melges 20 Sailing Series. Onorato now leads the overall Series after two events by a slim margin also. Celebrating second overall is American Russell Lucas on Shimmer, and Rob Wilber's Cinghiale finished third.

Solent Sunbeams at 90 years old at Cowes FULL STORY HERE

The Solent Sunbeams are regular visitors to Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week and, at 90 years old, they have plenty to celebrate this year. This pretty Alfred Westmacott design with its distinct ‘V’ sail insignia is similar in looks to the Seaview Mermaid but is 2inch longer overall at 26ft 5in (8m). To mark the Solent Sunbeam’s anniversary year, at least 10 boats – all from Itchenor – are expected to turn out for Cowes Week.

Melges 32 Audi Sailing Series Porto Ercole Edition - Final FULL STORY HERE

Lanfranco Cirillo on Fantastica with tactician Michele Paoletti and crew comprised of Daniele De Luca, Claudio Celon, Riamondo Tonelli, Eros Paghera, Enrico Verdinelli and Enrico Turrini as Porto Ercole Champions, won the 2013 Melges 32 Audi Sailing Series Porto Ercole Edition.

Ante Razmilovic is Etchells 2013 European Champion FULL STORY HERE

Ante Razmilovic sailing GBR1410 with Stuart Flynn and Chris Larson are the Etchells 2013 European Champions, with James Howells second and Nils Razmilovic third. The event was held in Cowes at the CCYC over the bank holiday weekend of the 4 to 6 May. The proposed 8 race event was reduced to 5 races due to the extremes in the weather, Saturday's initial forecast of force 4-5 turned out to be rather optimistic, with a 20kt breeze gusting to 38 knots resulting in the abandonment of all racing.

Flying 15 at Gaastra PalmaVela, Mallorca FULL STORY HERE

Vincent and Patrick Harris from CNC Gamba were the winners of the Flying Fifteen event at the Gaastra PalmaVela organised by Real Nautico Club Palma on the Bay of Palma, Mallorca. Second was David Barber, also from CNC Gamba, sailing Fine Fettle and third Michael Clough and Jonny Fullerton in Gecko after nine races using windward/leeward courses with racing run by RNCP over the three days.

First SB20 class Grand Slam event of the season FULL STORY HERE

The first SB20 class Grand Slam event of the season was held this weekend in Hyeres, France. Three days of racing with a quality fleet representing seven nations arrived to warm sunny 22 degrees. With no racing on Sunday, winners were the Russian team of Kirill Frolov helmed by Alexey Murashkin on countback from SB20 Class President Ed Russo sailing for France, with John Pollard’s “Xcellent” team from Royal Torbay YC left in 3rd place.

Team Aqua take RC44 Trapani Cup on count-back FULL STORY HERE

The RC44 Trapani Cup really did go down to the wire, the eventual winner not decided until the final metres of the final race of the event. CEEREF, Igor Lah (SLO) / Michele Ivaldi (ITA) needed to put a boat between them and Team Aqua, Chris Bake (GBR) / Cameron Appleton (NZL) to win the regatta. In the last 100 metres to the finish line, Aqua came storming in from the right to cross in front of Katusha for third place.

With Peninsula Petroleum, John Bassadone (GBR) / Vasco Vascotto (ITA) getting the gun, CEEREF in second, Team Aqua had snatched victory from the jaws of defeated, Team Aqua were crowned champions, on count-back of most race wins, and handed the Vito Corte designed RC44 Trapani Cup trophy.

Team Aqua jump to the top of the leader-board FULL STORY HERE

Trapani delivered perfect sailing conditions for the 13 competing international teams at the RC44 Trapani Cup. Three races saw three separate race winners, in a day where consistency was hard to come by. It was Team Aqua who managed stay out of trouble and jump to the top of the leader-board at the halfway point of the regatta.

European Springtime Yngling Championships at Fraglia Vela Riva

Seven nations and 30 crews are taking part in the European Springtime Yngling Championships at Fraglia Vela Riva on Lake Garda, Trentino. The Dutch crew led by Robert Kentgens with De Leeuw and Kamstra, finished in tenth place after the first race but today made up ground with two thirds and a third to push them into a 4 point lead over co-nationals Otte – Werf and De Uries. Last year's winners, Maarten- Smolders and Berens, are currently in third place and are coming on strong with an 11-8-6 and a fine first place. Today's first race and second overall was won by Deen Jan of The Netherlands.
