Youth Sailing Worlds - Time is running out

As the clock ticks down, options are running out for competitors at the Youth Sailing Worlds in Corpus Christi, USA.

USA, the host country keep their lead in four events: the Boys 420 (Joseph Hermus and Walter Henry), the Girls 420 (Carmen and Emma Cowles), the Girls Radial (Charlotte Rose) and the Boys RS:X (Geronimo Nores).

New Zealand crews lead in the boy's Radial (Josh Armit) and the girl's RS:X (Veerle ten Have).

While Norway's Mathias Berthet and Alexander Franks-Penty lead the boy's 29er, and Russia's Zoya Novikova and Diana Sabirova the girl's 29er.

Leaders in the Nacra 15 are Teresa Romairone and Dante Cittadini of Argentina.

British hopes of a podium finish are focussed on Islay Watson in the girls RS:X and Vita Heathcote and Emilia Boyle in the girl's 420, who both feature in the top three of their events.

Watson had another impressive day on the RS:X (2,2,3) and sits in third place, three points off leader Kiwi Veerle ten Have, with Italy's Giorgia Speciale in second place.

These leading three are in their own bubble at the front of the girl's RS:X, all low scoring with nothing worse than a fourth place (until Speciale's UFD Wednesday) and winning all the races to date.

In the girl's 420 Britain's Heathcote and Boyle (4,3) are tied on 14 points for second place with Spain's Julia Minana and Silvia Sebastia (2,8).

This is nine points off the leader, Americans Carmen and Emma Cowles (1,1), but they have a seven point cushion back to fourth placed Violette Dorange and Camille Orion of France.

Outside of those two events, featuring in the top ten, GBR has:

Ewan Wilson and Fin Armstrong (8,8,9) ninth in the boy's 29er, and Freya Black and Millie Aldridge (5,15,8) ninth in the girl's 29er, with Matilda Nicholls (8,8) seventh in the girl's Radial.

Other GBR results:
Boy's 420 - 15th Rhys Lewis and Drew Wright (16,19)
Mixed Nacra 15 - 18th William Smith and Abigail Clarke (20,13,13)
Boy's Radial - 22nd Jake Bowhay (22,25)
Boy's RS:X - 12th Isaac Lines (10,15,18)
