Kiel Week - Day 1 for Olympic classes

 
The second half of Kiel Week racing concentrates on the Olympic classes.

Some British Sailing Team members are competing in the 49erFX, 470, Finn, Laser and Nacra 17 events at Kiel Week.

In the women's 49erFX, Britain's Charlotte Dobson and Saskia Tidey won their first flight race, then added an 11, 8, while Sophie Weguelin and Sophie Ainsworth finished the day with a 6,5,10 scoreline.

Topping the leaderboard are Denmark's Ida Marie Nielsen and Marie Olsena ahead of Stephanie Roble and Maggie Shea of the USA.

After one race in the men's Laser event, Benjamin Vadnai of Hungary leads from Britain's Sam Whaley. Elliot Hanson is in sixth place.

In the women's Radial after one race, Maxime Jonker of Holland leads from Maud Jayet of Switzerland and Josefin Olsson of Sweden. Hannah Snellgrove of Britain is sixth.

The Nacra 17 event managed three races, with Aussies Jason Waterhouse and Lisa Darmanin taking three flight wins. They lead from Gemma Jones and Jason Saunders of New Zealand with Riley Gibbs and Louisa Chafee of the USA third.

Britain's John Gmson and Anna Burnet are sixth with a 3,2,5 scoreline.

In the men's 470 Mathew Belcher and Will Ryan (main image) of Australia with a 1, 2, lead from Kazuto Doi and Naoya Kimura (2,3) of Japan after two races. Luke Patience and Chris Grube (5,1) are third.

Germany's Nadine Bohm and Ann-Christin Goliass lead the women's 470 after two races. Britain's Katie Davies and Emma Baker are 14th.

Logan Beck and Oscar Gunn of New Zealand lead the men's 49er after three races. James Grummett and Daniel Budden GBR are 30th.

Also started in this section of Kiel Week is the men's Radial World Championship with 97 entries.

After two flight races completed, Alexander Arian of Poland is tied for the lead with Josh Armit NZL and Caelin Winchcombe AUS, all on four points.

Britain's Jon Emmett is in 22nd place after a 6 and 23. Jake Bowhay is 24th and Matt Beck 27th.

2.4mR European Para Sailing Championship at Kiel Week

After the first two races Heiko Kroger of Germany is tied for the lead on three points with Damien Segun of France, with Italy's Antonio Squizzato in third place.

Britain's Stephen Bullmore (8, 22) is in 15th place.
