Lovering storms to Pusinelli Trophy win

Richard Lovering from Hayling Island SC put down a marker at the Nigel Pusinelli Trophy

With just five weeks to the Solo class National Championships at Hayling Island SC, Lovering showed his hand early with an emphatic win at WPNSA.

Lovering won four of the six races, discarding an eighth to take a five point victory ahead of Tim Law from Salcombe YC, with Pete Mitchell of Warsash SC completing the podium.

Cliff Crawshaw won the opening race, but from then on it was all down to Lovering, with only Ian Hopwood grabbing a win in race 4.

Law was remarkably consistant, with a string of second and third places, to finish with the same gross points as Lovering, but never managed that elusive win.

The result demonstrated what can be expected at the Nationals if the breeze kicks in in Hayling Bay, but before then the class have an away-day to Riva del Garda for the Magic Marine Nations Cup.
