Volvo Ocean Race - Changing places

The Volvo leaders are now all in 13-14 knots of wind from the East and have entered the accelerated current of the gulf stream.

As they approach Newport, RI, Team Brunel (Bouwe Bekking) have kept their lead (11 nm) but Dongfeng Race Team (Charles Caudrelier) amd MAPFRE (Xabi Fernández) are challenging.

Turn The Tide on Plastic (Dee Caffari) and Vestas 11th Hour Racing (Charlie Enright), are now battling for fourth place, but a lot could happen yet . . .

Team AkzoNobel (Simeon Tienpont) have also joined the leading group.

Sun Hung Kai Scallywag (David Witt) are just leaving the stronger wind having cut their deficit to 101 nm.
