Eric Twiname Junior Championships - Day 2

The second day of the 32nd Eric Twiname Junior Championships at Rutland Water required plenty of patience and a helping of skill as fickle breeze provided testing conditions for the competitors.

The Techno windsurfer classes had the best run of things, managing four races in breeze of around five knots.

Swanage Sailing Club’s Alexander Meadway, 10, leads the Techno 4.5 fleet with three wins, while Queen Mary Sailing Club’s William Ziegler, 12, matched that score in the Techno 5.8.

The Techno 6.8 fleet is being led by Tommy Millard, 13, from ASWC Portsmouth, who also scored three wins, while two wins and a third puts Louis Walker, 14, from Buzz Active Eastbourne in the top spot in the Techno 7.8.

In the double-handed RS Feva class, Yorkshire Dales Sailing Club’s Rayner brothers Oliver, 13, and Matthew, 11, scored a win and a second and are tied at the top of the table with fellow North Zone duo Felix Stewart and Jake Harris, both 11, from Windemere School.

Two thirds for St Mawes Sailing Club’s Amy Boyle, 15, and Henry Hallam, 14, sees them complete the podium going into the final day.

Northern Ireland’s Ellen Barbour, 14, representing County Antrim Yacht Club and Royal North of Ireland Yacht Club, heads the Topper table with a win in the only race of the day.

Kai Wolgram, 14, from Llyn Brenig in Wales won the only race of the Laser 4.7 fleet, while the Optimists weren’t able to get a scoring race in.
