Volvo Race - Turn The Tide lead along Exclusion Zone

Dee Caffari's Turn The Tide on Plastic lead as the fleet tack along the Campos Oil Field Exclusion Zone.VOR Posiitons at 07:00 hrs -

Turn The Tide on Plastic were the furthest east and its looking good for them over the next few hours.

It is looking like Turn The Tide and Vestas 11th Hour Racing (Charlie Enright) easterly positioning is paying off. Dongfeng Race Team (Charles Caudrelier) have dropped to third now they have tacked.

Fleet are tacking upwind along the eastern edge of the Campos oil. Field 10-12kts of wind as they aim to dig deeper into the east before the long tack north

The long-term strategy remains to get east as fast as possible, in search of stronger, more favourable breeze and less current deeper in the South Atlantic.

In order to do that, the teams have had plenty of tacks and sail changes with more in store as they zigzag their way around the St Helena High’s north-western edge.
