Dobson and Tunnicliffe sweep GP14 Midland Champs

Ian Dobson and Andy Tunnicliffe took the GP14 Midland Area Championship title with a dominating performance at Chase SC over the weekend.

Dobson and Tunnicliffe from Burwain SC, counted five race wins after discarding a second place, to win by 12 points from Pete Gray and Richard Pepperdone, who claimed the only other race victory.

In third place were Tom Gillard and Andy Thompson, with fourth Nick Craig and Tobytastic Lewis, and in fifth place Shane McArthy and Andy Davies.

Only two races were completed on day 1, both won by Dobson and Tunnicliffe, before the wind died completely and racing was abandoned for the day.

Day 2 was an early start of 10am to get all the races in and with a bit more cloud cover the breeze improved.

Gray and Pepperdone started strongly (1, 2) but Dobson and Tunnicliffe were just as quick (2,1) and then added two final race wins to confirm the title.
