RS Aero at the Hamble Warming Pan

Toby Schofield dominated the RS Aero class at the Hamble Warming Pan.

Schofield, Aero 7 won three of the four races racing on the tidal river, racing among the dozens of moored boats which make the event so unique.

In the first race Gareth Griffiths in an Aero 9 worked the left shore pulling out a good lead on the fleet. Further back close racing in the '7’s saw Karen Main, Aero 7 just pipping Toby Schofield, Aero 7.

After that it was all Schofield, with Andy Hill taking second in race 2. Griffiths was second in race 3 and Main second in the final race.

Great fun, friendly club, good food but a whole different type of sailing where you had to keep your eyes open for 50 foot cruisers barreling through the fleet and time your tacks to make gaps between moored boats and see who’s nerve goes first close tacking or gybing up the shallows!
