Volvo Ocean Race - Back to the Doldrums

As expected the Volvo fleet hit a second bout of the Doldrums overnight and slowed again.Positions at Friday 07:00 UTS

On the 13:00 position posting all seven teams have now crossed the Equator, and were positioned right on the cusp of the trade winds that will fire them towards the finish line.

Sun Hung Kai/Scallywag are around 50 nautical miles west of the fleet, effectively cutting the corner on the left hand turn towards Hong Kong.

The move could see them end up neck and neck with the other teams when the fleet converges in the coming days.

Vestas 11th Hour Racing maintain their lead position of the north heading fleet of team AkzoNobel and Dongfeng.

While Team Brunel leads the mid-way fleet of MAPFRE and Turn the Tide On Plastic.

Vestas looks to be nearer to the Trade Winds and the next report will show if North or West pays.
