With less than 700 nm to go they are heading slightly more north, preparing to gybe and cross the high pressure and ride the southeasterlies on the other side to the finish.

MAPFRE hold their lead at 23 nm at 21:00 hrs, with Dongfeng Race Team and Vestas 11th Hour Racing running out of puff.

Also at the 21:00 report three of the fleet leaders had gybed and speeds had dropped to between 16 and 18 knots, but the three tailenders were down to 11 knots.

Brunel appears to be heading north, while Mapfre heads south before they need to head east into stronger breeze to the finish.

In much less favourable conditions, SHK/Scallywag, Turn the Tide on Plastic and AkzoNobel battle for last place and try to find a way out.
