International 14 POW Week - Final Day

The final day of International 14 POW Week featured two final races - the Lowestoft Bowl and Hunstanton Plate - to decide the Championship Week.

First off was the Lowestoft Bowl which was a win for Katie Nurton and Nigel Ash, with second Neale Jones and Ed FitzGerald, third Andy and Tom Partington.

POW Cup winners Roger Gilbert and Ben McGrane finishing fourth.

The same windward/leeward course for the Hunstanton Plate with Archie Massey and Harvey Hillary leading at the windward mark chased by Nurton and Ash, and Gilbert and McGrane.

Thus it remained until a dramatic pile-up at the final leeward mark where Massey and Hillary had to take penalty turns, allowing Gilbert and McGrane to take the gun and the POW Week.

Gilbert and McGrane had already won the National title by winning the Prince of Wales' Challenge Cup on Wednesday.

Ed note: the published Week results (01/09/2017) do not indicate a discard.
