470 Junior Worlds - Typhoon No. 15 arrives

The 470 Junior World Championships in Japan were hit by Typhoon No. 15, stationed south of Japan, with very confusing waves with a big long swell. Wind was max 30kt, mostly 15-20kt.

The Women went first and Italy's Benedetta Di Salle and Alessandra Dubbini showed their excellent work under the heavy conditions and finished 1st by a big margin.

Overall leaders Spain's Silvia Mas Deprares and Paula Barcelo finished fifth and keep their lead by eight points from Ilaria Paternoster and Bianca Caruso of Italy.

Finishing second were Nia Jerwood and Monique de Vries of Australia who are third overall.

Everyone made best effort to finish, and 15 boats crossed the finishing line.

In the men's event Hippolyte Machetti and Sidoine Dantes of France took first and extend their overall lead to nine points.

Second now are Guillaume Pirouelle and Valentin Sipan (8) of France with third Daichi Takayama and Naoya Kimura (2) of Japan.

Britain's Ben Hazeldine and Ryan Orr (9) are 13th overall.
