Light fluky winds that refused to settle teased sailors and organizers alike, on Day 2 of the World Championship Regatta, hosted by the Alamitos Bay Yacht Club.

“These are not typical conditions, but they’re what you’d expect if there’s a hurricane in Mexico,” Bruce Golison, PRO on Bravo Course explained. “Even if it’s 1,000 miles away, we can get the humidity, unstable winds, and big surf and swells.”

Argentina’s Santiago Duncan Loias and Elias Dalli (6,1) are tied on 12 points with Benji Daniel and Alex Burger (2,5) of South Africa, and early leaders, Seb Lardies and Scott McKenzie (27,4) of New Zealand.

Britain's Nick Robins and Billy Vennis-Ozanne (7,2) jump to fourth place after discarding a 35 from their opening race.

While Max Clapp and Ross Banham dropped back to 12th after scoring a UFD and a 4th Tuesday.

Qualifying races continue Wednesday, August 2, in the waters off Long Beach. Finals will be held Thursday, August 3 through Saturday, August 5, and are scheduled to consist of 10 races.
