Italy's Andrea Racchelli opened the scoring with a win in race 1 ahead of Bakóczy Róbert of Hungary.

Both then spoiled their score cards, Racchelli with a 22 place finish and Róbert with a 60 point BFD.

This opened the door for Ayres who had a sixth in the first race and then won the second to sit comfortably eight points clear of Carlo Fracassoli (5,10).

Ukrainian Vasyl Gureyev (9,9) is in third, and leading Corinthian entry.

Racchelli finished the day in sixth, just one point behind British entry David Rowen (19,3), while in fourth is USA entry Kevin Welch (10,11).
