The Israel Sailing Association, was able to exercise the right to withdraw from hosting the 2017 Championships as a final contract had not been concluded.
World Sailing was apparently informed by the ISA of its decision to withdraw as they were unable to secure adequate funding to host the event.
This Youth event has a had a troubled history recently.
The present 2016 event was moved to New Zealand after the Oman Sailing Committee exercised the right to withdraw their hosting of the event.
This action followed a row when two sailors from the ISA were unable to compete at the 2015 event in Malaysia due to the conditions imposed by the Malaysian authorities.
Of course the RYA has an empty venue spot at WPNSA following the rejection of their bid for a Sailing World Cup event in 2017.
But would they want to face the chance of another rejection?
World Sailing will accept bids from MNAs interested in hosting the event in July or December of 2017.
The deadline for MNAs to submit bids will be Monday 16 January 2017 with bid evaluations to take place on Tuesday 17 and Wednesday 18 January.
A decision will be made no later than Friday 3 February 2016.
