Six degrees of separation at RS Aero Turkey Bowl

Carl Buchan was the winner of the RS Aero event at the Seattle Corinthian YC annual Turkey Bowl Regatta.

Buchan is an Olympic Champion, winning Gold at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles in the Flying Dutchman class as crew, and won a Star World Championship as helm.

He has a connection via that 1984 Olympics to RS Aero designer Jo Richards, who took the Flying Dutchman class Bronze medal at the same Olympics!

Buchan was up to speed right from the first gun and rarely on the wrong side of the shifts or current throughout the six races, winning five of them.

In second was Derek Bottles, who won the race Buchan dropped and was always in the top three.

Third place went to David Brink, with fourth to Andy Mack who did very well with a 7 rig on a weekend that clearly favoured the 9 rig.
