Melges 24 European Sailing Series - Gill Race Team take gold and silver

The 2016 Melges 24 European Sailing Series concluded on Lake Maggiore with Miles Quinton's Gill Race Team winnnig the Corinthian division and taking silver in the overall event.

Andrea Racchelli and his team on Altea (ITA) were overall winners of the Melges 24 European Sailing Series (6 events, 48 races, 8 discards).

The Swiss EFG team took the final event of the series, the Lino Favini Cup, ahead of Andrea Pozzi's Bombarda (ITA).

In the Corinthian division, Niccolo Bertola-Giacomo Fossati's Taki 4 (ITA) secured victory one point ahead of the Gill Race Team (GBR) with Geoff Carveth helming.

Altogether 88 teams from 19 nations, including 64 Corinthian teams took part in the Melges 24 European Sailing Series during 2016.

The Melges 24 World Championship will take place in Miami from November 26 to December 3.
