New Vendee Globe record for Francois Gabart

Racing in his first ever Vendée Globe, Francois Gabart, the youngest skipper in the solo non stop around the world race, passed the longitude of Cape Horn Tuesday evening at 18:20 hrs UTC setting a new record for the passage from the start line in Les Sables d’Olonne of 52 days 6 hours 18 minutes.

Armel Le Cléac’h on Banque Populaire passed the longitude of Cape Horn at 19:35 hrs UTC in second place that is 1 hour and 15 minutes after long time rival, race leader Gabart on Macif.
