Are you getting your share of sponsorship?

Sailors and event organisers who want to develop important commercial skills, including how to raise and manage sponsorship, have the opportunity to participate in this new series of one-day training courses, the first of which will be hosted at the Royal Southern Yacht Club, Hamble, Hampshire, on 18 May.

David Fuller, the Marketing Director of digital sports marketing agency Pilote Media, believes that sailing and sailors could be missing out on sponsorship to other sports whose athletes have invested in being the best in the boardroom, as well as on the field of play.

Fuller has created the Sponsorship Business Workshop concept in response to an increased demand for advice on sponsorship and communications from sailors, clubs, event organisers and rights holders. The workshop has been developed to help sailing get its share of sponsorship and give attendees the tools to select and approach potential sponsors in a totally professional manner.

The Sponsorship Business Workshop course will cover topics including:

- how to value your event or campaign
- how to develop professional proposals
- how to use social media to create a fan-base
- effective networking
