60th anniversary of Flying 15 Bulwark Trophy at HISC

This year is 60 years since the inaugural running of the Flying 15 Bulwark Trophy raced for at Hayling Island SC open meeting. To mark this prestigious event, the fleet have arranged a full program of races, six in total, combining with the Flying 15 Southerns which this year is also a Worlds qualifier for Hyeres 2015.

The Bulwark Trophy commemorates the Launching at Portsmouth in 1807 of "H.M.S. Bulwark" 74 Guns, 1940 Tons, during the American War of 1814 and she was engaged in the Action of Tenoboscot, Maine, under the Command of Rear Admiral Edward Griffiths R.N.

The social program will include a live band on Saturday night, the “Bulwark 60th Anniversary” dinner on Sunday to which we hope to get many past winners to attend. Tea and cakes after racing on Monday with a free beer every day post racing.

Also on show will be a superbly renovated wooden FF from the era and the very latest modern carbon example. The club and the fleet welcome visitors and former Fifteen sailors to visit HISC during the event.

The event takes place over the weekend of the 24 to 26 May. Event details and NOR available at the HISC website or contact fleet captain Chris Waples [email protected]
