Over 200 boats from 23 nations are on the entry list of the 37th edition of the GAES Palamós Christmas Race (Girona) and this includes a sprinkling of British competitors avoiding the dismal weather conditions in the UK. The event has added the new Olympic 49er FX and is rewarded with 13 entries, but none from GBR.
Three races are on the program on the first day, but the wind forecast is not very promising. A good entry of 27 entries in the men's 49er with five GBR entries including James Peters and Ed Fitzgerald, and Nic Asher with Fynn Sterritt.

Alison Young leads the eight British crews in the women's Radial event and in the men's Laser, Alex Mills Barton leads a five strong GBR group. Andrew Mills is the stand-out name in the Finn class.
Mike Wood and Hugh Brayshaw are the sole GBR entry in the men's 470 but there is a strong entry in the women's 470, with Amy Seabright and Eilidh Mcintyre, Joanna Freeman and Katie Tomsett, and Anna Burnet and Flora Stewart starting for GBR.
The FX and ISAF youth classes 29er, Laser Radial boys and 420 boys and girls classes join the Laser Radial women, Laser Standard, Finn, 470 men and women and 49er.
Over the first four days of racing, three races are scheduled in all classes except for the FX and 49er with four races scheduled. On Sunday, last day of racing, the top ten boats in each class will sail the Medal Race to decide the winners in each class.
