Breaking records in the Trench

Antoine Albeau, who set the world speed windsurfing record at 51.69 knots (95.7 km/h), at the 2012 Luderitz Speed Challenge, in Namibia, is one of a number who have set world and national records over the past two weeks, including Britain's Zara Davis. This years Challenge is already hailed as the best year ever for the speed windsurfing community. Windsurfers have narrowed the speed difference to kiteboarders. Rob Douglas, the fastest kiteboarder in the world, has raced at 55.65 knots. The world speed sailing record was recently captured by Peter Larsen and his Vestas Sailrocket 2, with an incredible mark of 59.23 knots.
