The World Championship of the new Olympic Kiteboarding event will open on Wednesday with a practice race before the first race proper on Thursday.
220 competitors from 44 countries will take part at the Cagliari YC, Poetto Beach, Sardinia. The event has attracted a number of "cross-over" competitors from Olympic windsurfing. Leading the British competitors will be Steph Bridge, straight from winning the women's Kite Racing European Championship title in La Baule, France.
