The America's Cup Jury has handed Oracle Racing, GGYC (OTUSA) a prohibition of sailing either of their AC72 boats for a period of five days at the end of the next no-sail period. This reduces to 40 from 45 the number of days they can sail in the next testing period.
In addition the Jury awarded costs against Oracle Racing of €11,500. Lunna Rossa had submitted that an appropriate penalty would be a reduction of 15 sailing days plus other additional restrictions.
The protest arose after OTUSA, the US Defender, had taken photos of Italian Challenger Luna Rossa's AC72, within the restricted 200 metre distance.
