Sir Ben Ainslie pulled off a great PR coup for the announcement of his America's Cup team, with the presence of The Duchess of Cambridge guaranteeing TV and newspaper media coverage around the world.

Among those working to raise the funds required for the challenge are: Sir Charles Dunstone Chairman, Sir Keith Mills, Chris Bake, and Lord Irvine Laidlaw, Ian Taylor, Jon Wood and Peter Dubens as further investors in the team. Also, Lord Michael Grade and Robert Elliot have joined as independent board members.

The budget target is around £80 ($134) million, a figure of 40% of this already raised has been mentioned.

Aero and Hydrodynamics specialist Rodrigo Azcueta (ARG) and Hydrofoiling Catamaran specialist Benjamin Muyl (FRA) are already on board the design team.

The rest of the management team is made up of James Stagg, who takes the role of Shore Team Manager and Andy Hindley has joined as Chief Operating Officer, a position he also held with the America’s Cup Race Management organisation for the event in San Francisco.
